The travelling photo exhibition Mahina: ode to the Moluccan woman by Collectief Teru was the starting point for Storyhouse Belvedere to create a Rotterdam version with works by Rotterdam female visual artists with a Moluccan background.   The reason for this double portrait is a photograph of 2 Balinese Legong dancers on the beach, of which Ni Pollok is the most famous because of her marriage to Belgian painter Le Mayeur de Merprès.   The interaction between the women, as they look at each other while dancing and position their bodies in relation to each other reflects the strength and trust that can exist between women.
